The Nats have been playing dead baseball. This weekend’s spanking at the hands of the Cardinals only exemplified what’s been wrong with this team. Their bats have been ice cold, their pitchers are wearing down from getting no support, and even their vaunted fielding isn’t enough to save them.

And whose up next? The Braves.

2-6 since the All-Star break. 4-11 in their last 15. Uh oh. But despite a Livan tantrum which threatened to derail the entire season, the Nats are still tied atop the NL East and have a 4 1/2 game edge in the wild card race and the rubber-armed one ain’t goin’ nowhere. Panic? No. But, 2.9 avg. runs scored in the last 10 ballgames makes Gill worry.
