In episode 19, you have the opportunity to meet my parents, Kathy and Watson. Recently, they were here in the Pee Dee visiting us and helping us set-up our new household. While their help at home was greatly appreciated and really made a difference in our lives, it was this taping that I will remember as one of my fondest memories of their visit. I'm so glad we had the chance to catch-up and, believe it or not, share shories that even I hadn't heard before.

About our Sponsor:

In episode 17, several of us recap our recent "foodie field trip" to the Charleston Wine + Food Festival 2012 for which I was fortunate enough to have a media pass. From tastings to demonstrations, from discussion panels to book signings, this event was full of flavor and opportunity to explore The Holy City. The rain put a damper on the day we visited, but we've got a lot to tell you about this recent day trip from the Pee Dee to the Lowcountry.

Host: Kevin Barron (aka Pee Dee Foodie)

Guest: Mitch Barbour, restaurant owner

Location: CHUBZ, Florence

Sponsor: N/A

In this Episode:

Episode 16 finds me visiting with the owner of CHUBZ in Florence, Mitch Barbour. Mitch has owned and operated many businesses in his lifetime, including bars, clothing store, shoe store, and more. How did he get into the restaurant business and what's the concept behind CHUBZ? I was curious to get those questions answered given CHUBZ unique take on menu items -- especially the "CHUBZILLA." Mitch answers all of my questions and gives a bit of his philosophy on value for money, as well.

While this may sound like a big commercial for CHUBZ (especially due to the unique segment added to the end), it was not sponsored by, nor suggested by Mitch. I just thought it would be fun to do during a recent Saturday visit. If you're a local restauraunteur interested in being on the Pee Dee Food Show™, contact me. We'll schedule something.

In this Episode

Episode 15 finds us gathered to discuss our favorite Childhood Comfort Foods. What meals did your mom, grandmother, aunt, … or even uncle, make for you when you were down in the dumps? Or maybe when you hadn't seen them for a while? It's not just what they cooked, but the effort and the love that went into those meals that made them special. Here are a few of our best memories and some ideas of what you can prepare at home.

Before we close, we also get an update from Alan about Rebel Pie (http://RebelPie.com) his new Neapolitan Pizza restaurant near Timmonsville, SC.

Thank you for downloading brief bonus episode of the Pee Dee Food Show. It's specific purpose is to share our new theme song, show intro, and show outro with you.

About the New Theme Song, Intro, & Outro

Our new theme song is a clip called "Cajun Stomp" and, while I was born in Charleston, South Carolina, is a nod to the specific Louisiana roots in both my and my wife's families. It also sounds perfect for the show with its driving beat and up-tempo feel. We like to have fun around here!

Also, you may recognize our announcer as Dave Baker of Baker Audio Productions and Miller Communications. Learn more about each at http://DaveBaker.com and http://Miller.fm respectively. We want to thank Baker and Miller for their invaluable assistance in adding to the production values of this growing internet radio show.

About the Pee Dee Food Show:

In it, we discuss the Celebrity Chefs who will be competing for bragging rights and their names on a perennial trophy to be housed at the Chamber, as well as some of the dishes they plan to offer to guests of the event. Tom also outlines the other events going on simultaneous to the chef competition, including silent auction, beer tasting, wine tasting, and a few surprises. As Tom is a fellow, we also manage to find time to talk about his cooking experiences and a few recommendations. It's local, it's fun, and its right here on the Pee Dee Food Show.
