A big congratulations to carlogalliani for winning his 2nd Photograph of the Month contest: the May 2013 Photograph of the Month! Voting was quite close (check out the final voting results here), but Carlo pulled out a victory by just a couple of votes.

Make sure to drop by the award thread to congratulate Carlo on his victory, and to check out a larger version of his winning photograph - the Mandarin Duck is a stunning-looking creature, and Carlo captured it beautifully!

A Month to Enter Contest Corner Challenge #104: In the Garden

One of the projects I have on my list of “Things to Do” for this year is to do some re-landscaping in the back and front yard of my house. Your task for Contest Corner Challenge #104: In the Garden is to give me some inspiration. Take a photograph of (or in) your garden (or any garden). Flowers, insects, dew drops - as long as your photograph is taken in or of a garden, you have yourself an entry. Get the full contest details in the CCC#104 contest announcement thread in the forums.

May is almost upon us, which means it’s time to cast our vote for the photograph that will be featured on the homepage of the Corner for the month of May. We’ve got a fantastic line up this month - check them out in the May 2013 Photograph of the Month Photo Gallery.

We have until the end of the day on May 3rd to cast our votes, and the winner should be announced on May 4th. Check out the nominated photos and cast your vote here in the voting thread.

"Birth of Spring" is the 1st CCC Winner of 2013

The first Contest Corner Challenge of 2013 kicked off with a bang, and a community favourite in chellezfotoz picked up her 2nd Contest Corner Challenge victory with her photograph “Birth of Spring.”

Contest Corner Challenge #103: Fresh asked the community to take a photograph of something new and fresh. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh fruit, cloths fresh off the line, dew drops - anything that said fresh. We had a dozen photographers enter the contest (view their entries in the CCC#103: Fresh Photo Gallery), but Michelle squeaked out a win by just a handful of votes. Check out the final voting results now revealed in the voting thread.

Since Michelle is a Premiere Member, she will receive the EditorsKeys Photoshop PC & Mac Dedicated Keyboard - a $170 value!

Make sure to drop by the award thread to congratulate Michelle on her win and to check out a larger version of her winning photograph!

"Steps to Nowhere" is the April 2013 Photograph of the Month

Voting was late again (sorry!), so we decided to shorten the voting period for the April 2013 Photograph of the Month. With the shortened voting period over, by one vote, Sleepingdragon’s photograph “Steps to Nowhere” managed to capture the crown. Check out how close the final votes were here in the voting thread.

The First Contest Corner Challenge of 2013 is Here!

They’re finally back! After a 3+ month hiatus, the popular Contest Corner Challenges are back at the Corner with Contest Corner Challenge #103: Fresh. Get all the details in the contest thread here.

Entries are due in by Wednesday, March 27th, 2013, and photographs submitted must be taken between March 7th and March 27th. Voting will begin on March 28th.

"Snow Dog" by Gems is the March 2013 Photograph of the Month

Once the voting was complete, “Snow Dog” by Gems was the photograph sitting on top of the pile. Check out the final voting results here.

This marks the very first Photograph of the Month win for Sabine who, because she’s a Premiere Member, picks herself up a KB Covers Photoshop Keyboard as a prize!

February 2013 Bling

The first Corner Newsletter of 2013 should be out later today, and before we send out each newsletter we always make sure to hand out Commitment Awards to those that have reached milestones with regards to their post-count in the past month. Commitment Awards are handed out to those who have shown great community dedication & commitment, and have reached a specific post-count milestone (1k, 2k, 5k and 10k).

The 2012 Premiere Projects Photographs of the Year

After a week of voting (check out the voting results here), the community has decided that both A Little FLY Tongue by jaharris1001 (Premiere Project #137: Beauty in the Small) and Missing You by cup4tml (Premiere Project #139: Say it with Flowers) are the best Premiere Project photographs from 2012. Congratulations to Jim & Doug for winning the fourth annual Premiere Project Photograph of the Year contest!!! Check out a larger version of their winning photographs and congratulate them on their dual win here in the PPPotY award thread.

Premiere Projects, hosted in the Premiere Corner every couple of weeks, are group photography projects where Premiere Members challenge themselves to grow as photographers by participating in themed “assignments.” Each projects outlines a topic for the members to photograph. The photos are then submitted for discussion/critiquing/reactions. At the end of the project period, a vote is held to determine which photo best represents the theme while maintaining high photographic quality. If you follow along closely in the forums, you’ve probably seem some of the winner announcements in the Conversation Corner.

The month of February is short enough as it is, but with the delayed PotM voting last month, February seemed even shorter this month.

Around the Corner, the last week of the month (give or take) is always reserved for voting on the upcoming Photograph of the Month contest. The Premiere Members browse through the forums throughout the month and nominate their favourite photographs. As the end of the month approaches, I narrow them down to the top 10-15, and then the whole community gets to vote on them. The favourite gets displayed on the homepage of the Corner for the month, and usually picks up a pretty sweet prize.

Check out the top photographs from the past month here in the March 2013 Photograph of the Month Gallery. Then head over to the voting thread to cast your vote for your favourite. Voting ends at approximately 10:00pm EST on Tuesday, March 5th, 2013 (3:00am GMT on Wednesday, March 6th).
