SSC now wishes to attract an exceptional successor to the current CEO, who will retire early in 2013, leaving strong foundations following a recent, successful merger.&lt;/DIV&gt;

&lt;DIV&gt;The CEO will work closely with the chairman, board and executive team to evolve the future direction of the charity, providing inspirational, values-driven leadership to both the charity’s staff and its volunteers, and acting in the best interests oflife-limited children and their families. The development of fundraising and the commercial potential of the organisation is a priority, driving partnerships with donors, statutory regulators, corporates and other supporters. He/she will continue to build outstanding relationships with government authorities while constructively challenging their policies for the benefit of children and families.&lt;/DIV&gt;

&lt;DIV&gt;The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading at a senior level, whether in the commercial, charity or public sector. Some exposure to a charity or health-related / NHS environment might be helpful but key are outstanding interpersonal skills and a highly motivational leadership style. Confident and decisive, with strong listening skills, he / she will have an extremely adaptable communication style and a collaborative approach. The stature, gravitas and acumen to be a respected and credible ambassador for SSC in the public arena is also important.
