I'm back! Well, past me is back. Present me is definitely sick as can be thanks to BlizzCon. Speaking of BlizzCon, this episode include Patrick Beja and myself giving our first impressions of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2. This was recorded live from the BlizzCon floor so please excuse the background noise.

Is R2-T2 back? Well I never considered it gone. I've just been very busy with TAC and ITN as well as the additional load of working on HotSlogs. I was planning to bring back R2-T2 on a regular basis once BlizzCon had wrapped. But now that I am so sick, I'm not sure I'll be able to deliver on that as planned. Enjoy Patrick and I for now and I will see you all as soon as I can.

2 episodes in one week? It’s almost like February is a short month and traveling and technical difficulties compacted that issue! Anyways, on this episode I’m joined by my good friend Abby. She and her husband Ben, are to blame for Katie and my cocktail obsession. I’ve been wanting to talk to Abby about one of her all time favorite drinks, the Bananarac. It’s a riff on the Sazerac that employs a banana liqueur and it’s delicious.

The Bananarac
Cocktail Codex; Natasha David

1oz Pierre Ferrand 1840
1 oz Overholt Rye (or Rittenhouse)
1/2 oz Giffard Banane du Brésil
1/2 tsp Demarara Gum Syrup
Garnish: 1 lemon twist (for spritz)

Rinse a chilled double rocks glass with absinthe. Stir all ingredients (except the lemon) over ice, strain into the absinthe-rinsed glass. Spritz lemon peel over the liquid in the glass and discard.

Katie and I are back talking cocktails. On this episode we’re cracking open our new rum bottles and making a Twenty Seventy Swizzle. See below for links to the cocktail tools we mentioned in this episode.

The Twenty Seventy Swizzle

1⁄2 ounce lime juice
1⁄2 ounce demerara syrup
1⁄2 ounce honey syrup
1⁄4 ounce St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
1 ounce column still aged rum (Zacapa 23)
1 ounce black blended overproof rum (Plantation O.F.T.D.)
1 dash Absinthe (original calls for Herbsaint instead of Absinthe)
1 dash Angostura bitters

Assemble ingredients in a Collins or similar highball glass. Fill the glass 3/4 full with crushed ice and swizzle till extremely cold. Top with crushed ice, garnish with mint, nutmeg, and a swizzle napkin wrap.

Mosquito Coast:
Via Phil Ward in Death & Co. Seriously, buy this book

2 oz Scarlet Ibis Rum (or other Trinidad rum that is around 49% abv)
1 /4 oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram
3/4 oz Lime Juice
3/4 oz 1:1 Simple Syrup
1 Lime Wedge

Shake all of the ingredients (except the lime wedge) over ice and strain into a coupe glass. Cut a slit into the lime wedge and garnish that coupe.

This week I wanted to have a friend on. So I grabbed Ben (from the Amove Radio days) and we talked cocktails and, more specifically, tiki drinks.

Jungle Bird
1 1⁄2 oz Black Strap rum
1 1⁄2 oz Fresh pineapple juice
1⁄2 oz Fresh lime juice
3⁄4 oz Campari
1⁄2 oz Simple syrup

Shake all ingredients over ice until chilled. Strain into a double rocks glass over one large ice cube. Garnish with either a piece of pineapple or pineapple fronds.

Lemon Twist

Stir the gin, vermouth, and bitters over ice and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with the lemon twist.

I'm back for another Angry Nerd. I had enjoyed talking cocktails so much last week that I decided to keep going. This week I want to talk about the drink that brought me back to rum, the Daiquiri. You'll also learn why I've avoided rum since college.

Daiquiri:
Via Death & Co. Seriously, buy this book

2 oz White Rum
1 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
1 Lime Wedge

Shake the rum, lime juice, and simple syrup over ice and strain into a coupe glass. Cut a slit into the lime wedge and garnish that coupe.

It's been a good week on Amove so let's celebrate with some cocktails. On this week's Angry Nerd I explain how cocktail mixing became my new hobby. If you want my recommendation for a beginner's Old-Fashioned the recipe is below.

Keeping it simple Old-Fashioned Recipe:
Thanks goes to Ben and Abby for including a recipe card very similar to this in a gift of cocktail goodies.

2 oz Bourbon
1 tsp Simple Syrup
2 Dashes Angostura Bitters
Orange Twist

Stir all ingredients over ice. Strain into a double rocks glass over a single large ice cube. Garnish with the orange twist. Cheers.

Welcome back to another edition of The Angry Nerd. Last week I made short mention of my friends and I starting a new campaign of Edge of the Empire, the Star Wars pen and paper RPG. In the past week I've received many emails asking about how are campaign is going and what characters we're playing. So I did the only thing that made any sense and got my close friend, talented illustrator, co-host of ye-olde Amove Radio, and GM for our campaign Ben Zweifel to join me. We went pretty deep into the nerdy details about our game.

Wasn't really sure how I was going to do one of these this week. This whole episode is about the Orlando attack. I don't think I'd be able to do another one of these podcasts without talking about it. Definitely more of a somber episode than usual, but I had to run through my thoughts.
