Welcome to the Zanzibits website, Center for Film & Multimedia in Zanzibar
This is our new and improved website, which was launched in March 2012. The process of designing this site was a process that involved a good cooperation with people in the Netherlands, Germand and here, in Tanzania. We are very proud of the result, and we hope you will agree with us. We are happy to receive your comments, and if you have any suggestions, don't hesitate to let us know!Located in Zanzibar (east coast of Tanzania), the Zanzibits Center for Film & Multimedia aims to bridge the digital gap between the Tanzanian community and the rest of the world.
We do this by setting up a multimedia center where pre selected youths of a poor background (together with local youth organizations and the ministry of youth development) will follow a one year course, given by professionals, free of charge. After this year of study, Zanzibits will guarantee an internship to the students who have successfully finished the highest level of the course (Media Lab) and will function as a job intermediary in the years to follow.
