Im a bit confused.. Have you been using Tramadol and Suboxone for the past 7 years? Or just the Tramadol, and are now trying Suboxone in an effort to get clean?

A word of caution though. Buprenorphine(the partial opioid agonist in Suboxone) is a strong drug. Even a 2mg dose would have "opiate naive" friends of mine wretching over the toilet for hours. Personally, I feel one would have to have a huge Tramadol habit to warrant the use of Suboxone.

While Tramadol can certainly be abused, the intensity of the withdrawal symptoms due solely to its opioid receptor agonism are not significant. It is Tramadol's seretonergic effects that lead to its difficult withdrawal symptoms.

Be careful with the Suboxone. I imagine a person without a large opiate habit to begin with may find buprenorphine to be likeable... you can certainly catch a buzz from it if you don't have a large opiate tolerance.

Treat the Suboxone as a recovery tool. And take as little as possible to ward off the physical symptoms. I don't imagine you would need more than 1 or 2mg tops. If you get that warm opiate feeling from the dose of Suboxone that you are taking, take less or you may be headed for trouble.

Do not do this alone. Get some professional help. It will make your attempt to be free of opiates easier to accomplish. Don't forget about meetings and SR. Use every tool at your disposal.
