This week we’re using David Rappoccio re-imagined NFL logos with a silly British twist at DAVE’S ART LOCKER: http://daveartlocker.blogspot.ca/2013/02/what-if-all-nfl-logos-were-british.html

These logos are sillier than the ministry of silly walks:

Enjoy.

This week we’ve now also included a link to NFL.com’s game summary for each team’s previous game to refresh your memory.

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

(2-10) Houston Texans at (3-9) Jacksonville Jaguars

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Jacksonville Jaguars 32 at Cleveland Browns 28  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120101/2013/REG13/jaguars@browns#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Jacksonville scored their 6th passing TD of the season in the 4th quarter against Cleveland. Keep in mind that both Peyton Manning and Nick Foles each did this in one game this season. Our highlight is this sweet touchdown pass thrown by MJD:

.

New England Patriots 34 at Houston Texans 31 http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120109/2013/REG13/patriots@texans#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The Texans came up short against the Patriots. There have been allegation of New England spying, but this seems to be unsubstantiated and merely sour grapes from defensive lineman Antonio Smith: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1871917-antonio-smith-says-hes-very-suspicious-of-patriots-after-loss?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=nfl

He has since admitted he was “joking”. What a maroon…

.

The Jags have won 3 straight games. Houston have lost 10 in a row. So this game is essentially race for the 1st in 2014 draft, loser takes all. We recommend you watch “Glee” on Thursday night instead of this game.

In keeping with our strategy of always picking the home team on the short week, we’ll take:

______________________________________________________________________________________

ONE O’CLOCK SUNDAY GAMES

(8-4) Indianapolis Colts at (8-4) Cincinnati Bengals

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Tennessee Titans 14 at Indianapolis Colts 22  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120102/2013/REG13/titans@colts#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The Colts seem less complete with the loss of Reggie Wayne, but managed to get the win last week against the Titans. Adam Vinatieri kicked 5 field goals. You’re a “one and done” playoff team if you’re relying on your kicker to win games for you. Still Adam “Nougatieri” is the oldest player in the NFL  (he’ll be 41 at the end of this month) and he deserves  better commercial endorsements than this:

.

Cincinnati Bengals 17 at San Diego Chargers 10  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120110/2013/REG13/bengals@chargers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

We still don’t believe in Rusty Dalton, but he did play better than Phillip Rivers and got the win for the Bengals. Cincinnati, like Indianapolis also feel like a “one and done” playoff team.

.

We’ll take the home team without any confidence:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(4-8) Buffalo Bills at (3-9) Tampa Bay Buccaneers

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Atlanta Falcons 34 at Buffalo Bills 31 (OT)   http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120107/2013/REG13/falcons@bills#menu=highlights&tab=recap

This home game for the Bills was played indoors at the Rogers Centre. The Bills are now 1-4 in their Toronto series in the last 5 years and can’t seem to ever get it done. Even the initial running touchdown by EJ Manuel was only granted after a coach’s challenge and there was a questionable illegal touch penalty late the game as well. Despite the Bills having the lead in the 4th quarter, they fumbled twice and the Falcons were able to capitalize by tying and then winning by a field goal in overtime in front of a meager crowd of 39,000.

Our highlight is Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who was in attendance. After being mobbed by “fans” at halftime, he was advised by Toronto Police to leave the stadium before the end of the game. Here he is enjoying a chicken wing:

For those of you who only know Mayor Ford for his crack use, he is also a rabid football fan and coaches at the high school level. Here he is at a press conference earlier this year demonstrating a “football play”:

.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6 at Carolina Panthers 27  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120100/2013/REG13/buccaneers@panthers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Tampa Bay have had a resurgence late in the season but just couldn’t keep up with the playoff bound Panthers.

.

Neither of these teams is going anywhere in January. We’ll take the home team:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(9-3) Kansas City Chiefs at (3-9) Washington Redskins

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Denver Broncos 35 at Kansas City Chief 28  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120103/2013/REG13/broncos@chiefs#menu=highlights&tab=recap

While we usually like to pile on Alex Smith for being a check down Charlie, we can’t fault his game. His wide receivers dropped alot of catchable passes and the defence is starting to show some chinks. Peyton found the one on one mismatch and threw to wide receiver Eric Decker for 3 touchdowns.

.

New York Giants 24 at Washington Redskins 17  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120111/2013/REG13/giants@redskins#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The big story of this game was the officiating confusion, where the Redskins thought they had a first down, ran a play (a deep pass), only to be told it was in fact 4th and inches. Here’s the clip from Sunday Night Football:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000291662/article/nfl-play-should-have-been-stopped-in-giantsredskins

The NFL has admitted the referee should have stopped the clock and measured.

.

We’ll take the playoff bound team:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(3-8) Minnesota Vikings at (6-6) Baltimore Ravens

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Pittsburgh Steelers 20 at Baltimore Ravens 22  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013112802/2013/REG13/steelers@ravens#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The highlight of this game seemed to be this play, where Mike Tomlin claims he was watching the jumbotron and unaware of his presence on the field.

While this has inspired lots of internet memes feature Mike Tomlin, the NFL is investigating and will likely fine Tomlin and the Steelers in the 6 figures and maybe even strip them of a draft pick.

The smirk afterwards probably won’t help his case and many Ravens fan probably wished that Jacoby Jones had ploughed right into him.

But it did give us this:

and countless other Mike Tomlin memes

.

Chicago Bears 20 at Minnesota Vikings 23  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120104/2013/REG13/bears@vikings#menu=highlights&tab=recap

After getting the field goal in OT and then having it called back on a face mask penalty, the Vikings had to watch Chicago’s Bobby Gould kick and miss, before they could recover the ball and try again for the win.

Superfan of the afternoon goes to this guy with a teddy bear impaled on one of his viking horns:

.

Ponder went out with a concussion in the Chicago game and there’s no word who is starting in this game against Baltimore. We say put in Josh Freeman! Regardless of who’s quarterbacking for Minnesota we’ll pick the home team:

______________________________________________________________________________________

(4-8) Cleveland Browns at (9-3) New England Patriots

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

New England Patriots 34 at Houston Texans 31 http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120109/2013/REG13/patriots@texans#menu=highlights&tab=recap

In the Denver-New England game a few weeks ago, Tom Brady could be heard audibling “Cougar! Cougar! Linda” at the line, prompt some reporters to ask who is this cougar named Linda? Bil Belicick’s long time girl friend is named Linda, and Linda is an often used offensive code for go left, or to indicate the pass rush is coming from the left. Either way, it did result in a Gronk touchdown. Listen carefully:

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-fantasy/0ap2000000287711/QB-Brady-to-TE-Gronkowski-6-yd-pass-TD

Superfan Fail of the Day:

We really hate this guy and feel sorry of the people sitting behind him. You can’t bring a bag bigger than your hand into a stadium unless it’s clear, but Big Head Brady cut outs are okay? Damn you NFL and your nonsensical rules!

.

Jacksonville Jaguars 32 at Cleveland Browns 28  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120101/2013/REG13/jaguars@browns#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The Browns almost got the win by taking the lead late in the 4th quarter, only to blow it at the end. Brandon Weeden is likely to get cut at the end of the season, as it’s unlikely he has any trade value, despite being a first round draft pick last year. Oh, wait, the Jets will likely sign him…

We noticed for the first time in the Browns-Jaguars game, Cleveland’s mascot “Brownie”, who had been retired since 1969, but is back this season:

He’s a creepy elf.

http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/sports/football/browns/return-of-brownie-the-elf-cleveland-browns-unveil-mascot-sunday-at-halftime-vs-bengals

.

Leave your big head Brady cut outs:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(4-8) Oakland Raiders at (5-7) New York Jets

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Oakland Raiders 24 at Dallas Cowboys 31 http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013112801/2013/REG13/raiders@cowboys#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Despite starting strong and playing well on Thanksgiving against Dallas, Oakland failed to get the win with QB Matt “McLovin'” McGloin.

.

Miami Dolphins 23 at New York Jets 3  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120105/2013/REG13/dolphins@jets#menu=highlights&tab=recap

A brand new low for the Jets with their 3rd straight loss and rookie QB Geno Smith finally being pulled in the 4th quarter in favor of back-up Matt Sims. There are no highlight from this game. This may seal Rex Ryan’s firing, along with Geno Smith’s. Which means a new coach could give Sanchez another chance in 2014… Same old Jets.

.

We can’t pick the Jets anymore. They’re dead to us:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(7-5) Detroit Lions at (7-5) Philadelphia Eagles

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Green Bay Packers 10 at Detroit Lions 40  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013112800/2013/REG13/packers@lions#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Detroit easily beat up a Green Bay team that couldn’t score any touchdowns offensively. Despite 2 fumbles (for a loss) and 2 interceptions thrown by Stafford, the Lions didn’t beat themselves only because the other team played so badly.

.

Arizona Cardinals 21 at Philadelphia Eagles 24  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120106/2013/REG13/cardinals@eagles#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Philly QB’s Nick Foles streak with no interceptions almost came to an end when he threw a pick but it got called back after a defensive penalty. He now has 19 TDs and 0 INTs.

.

We’ll go with the hot hand QB at home:

______________________________________________________________________________________

(6-6) Miami Dolphins at (5-7) Pittsburgh Steelers

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Miami Dolphins 23 at New York Jets 3  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120105/2013/REG13/dolphins@jets#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Miami took care of the Jets handily, but that’s not saying much because the Jets are terrible. Really terrible.

.

Pittsburgh Steelers 20 at Baltimore Ravens 22  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013112802/2013/REG13/steelers@ravens#menu=highlights&tab=recap

We already covered the Mike Tomlin incident in the discussion of the Baltimore game, so we’ll give you one more meme:

So wrong.

.

This is a tough game to pick. We’re still not convinced that Miami and QB Tannehill have turned the corner, and no doubt the Steelers are angry after such a close loss to their division rival last week. We’ll go:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(3-9) Atlanta Falcons at (5-6) Green Bay Packers

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Atlanta Falcons 34 at Buffalo Bills 31 (OT)   http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120107/2013/REG13/falcons@bills#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The Falcons got it done on the road against a Buffalo team that beat itself with fumbles and bad call by the referees. It was odd that there was a lots of cheering in Toronto when the Falcons won against the Bills

.

Green Bay Packers 10 at Detroit Lions 40 http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013112800/2013/REG13/packers@lions#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Without Aaron Rodgers who’s not slated to return until next week, this team is terrible.

.

Again, we’ll reluctantly go with the home team, but an upset is not out of the question:

________________________________________________________________________________________

FOUR O’CLOCK SUNDAY GAMES

(5-7) Tennessee Titans at (10-2) Denver Broncos

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Tennessee Titans 14 at Indianapolis Colts 22  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120102/2013/REG13/titans@colts#menu=highlights&tab=recap

We don’t understand why Tennessee didn’t go for 2 after this go ahead touchdown. It makes no sense to us.

Kicking the point after makes no sense in this situation. If you go for 2 you have a field goal lead. If you miss it, you still have the one point lead. Bad coaching. In the end it made no difference as Indy won by 4.

.

Denver Broncos 35 at Kansas City Chief 28  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120103/2013/REG13/broncos@chiefs#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Peyton does what Peyton does. 5 touchdowns, 3 of them to wide receiver Eric Decker. Enough said.

.

Lock it up! Take it to the bank:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(5-7) New York Football Giants at (5-7) San Diego Chargers

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

New York Giants 24 at Washington Redskins 17  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120111/2013/REG13/giants@redskins#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The Giants got it done at home against the Skins. We covered the 4th down/1st down officiating fuck up earlier..

.

Cincinnati Bengals 17 at San Diego Chargers 10  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120110/2013/REG13/bengals@chargers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Rivers and the Chargers usually play well in December. This was not the case on December 1st.

.

Neither of these teams is making the playoffs. We’ll take the home team reluctantly:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(11-1) Seattle Seahawks at (8-4) San Francisco 49ers

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

New Orleans Saints 7 at Seattle Seahawks 34

What a beat down. Seattle’s defence held Drew Brees to 147 yards and just one touch down. And then they made crazy plays like this to put away the game in the third quarter:

.

Saint Louis Rams 13 at San Francisco 49ers 23  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120108/2013/REG13/rams@49ers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Nothing to say about this game…

.

Seattle are the first team to clinch a playoff spot, but we feel they are always a different team on the road, and coming off a short week, we’ll take:

But we could be wrong…

_____________________________________________________________________________________

(5-7) Saint Louis Rams at (7-5) Arizona Cardinals

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Saint Louis Rams 13 at San Francisco 49ers 23  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120108/2013/REG13/rams@49ers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

The Rams tried to fake a punt against the 49ers. They didn’t bite on this for a second.

Clearly the SF special teams had been watching film from week 2 against Dallas:

.

Arizona Cardinals 21 at Philadelphia Eagles 24  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120106/2013/REG13/cardinals@eagles#menu=highlights&tab=recap

Carson Palmer made up for not throwing any picks in his last two games by throwing 2 INTs against the Eagles.

.

We reluctantly go with Carson Palmer and the home team:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

(9-3) Carolina Panthers at (9-3) New Orleans Saints

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6 at Carolina Panthers 27  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120100/2013/REG13/buccaneers@panthers#menu=highlights&tab=recap

We love that Panther’s coach Ron Rivera has gotten the nick name “Riverboat Ron” for his penchant for going for it on 4th down. This poster was seen at the game and is all over the internets:

http://scottfowlerobs.blogspot.ca/2013/11/riverboat-ron-gets-his-own-poster.html

.

New Orleans Saints 7 at Seattle Seahawks 34

This was beat down for New Orleans and we’re still upset with the result. Thankfully Ed Hochuli was the referee and gave us this gem of an explanation, condensed here into a Vine video:

https://vine.co/v/hxaPi9z2lvh

.

This is the first of two meeting of these division rivals which is why NBC flexed the game into Sunday night. While we’re impressed with Carolina’s franchise record of 8 wins in row, we feel the Saints bounce back from their Monday night beat down. We’re taking the home team:

_____________________________________________________________________________________

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

(7-5) Dallas Cowboys at (6-6) Chicago Bears

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Oakland Raiders 24 at Dallas Cowboys 31  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013112801/2013/REG13/raiders@cowboys#menu=highlights&tab=recap

.

Chicago Bear 20 at Minnesota Vikings 23  http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2013120104/2013/REG13/bears@vikings#menu=highlights&tab=recap

What a yawn. We’ll take:

THANKSGIVING THURSDAY 12:30PM GAME

(5-5-1) Green Bay Packers at (6-5) Detroit Lions (-6.5)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24 at Detroit Lions 21  /  Minnesota Vikings 26 at Green Bay Packers 26 (TIE)

Aaron Rodgers has not practice on the this short week and is not likely to start. Green Bay are going with long time back-up Matt Flynn, who was put in last week after Scott Tolzien started and made this nifty spin move in the first quarter:

Surprisingly, some players still didn’t know that a regular season game can end in a tie, as reported on Twitter by Sports Illustrated Scott Klemko:

Full story here: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1864217-multiple-green-bay-packers-had-no-idea-game-could-end-in-a-tie?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=newsletter&utm_campaign=nfl

C’mon Man!

In the Detroit-Tampa match up Matt Stafford threw 4 interceptions, and Tampa Bay got their 3rd win of the season.

Despite the loss, the Lions are still the 3rd seed in the NFC at 6-4, although Chicago are also 6-4 and Green Bay are 5-5-1.

Without Rodgers, and despite Detroit’s ability to beat itself, we can’t help but pick:

However it’s unlikely they cover the spread, so take Green Bay for the points.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

THANKSGIVING THURSDAY 4:30PM GAME

(4-7) Oakland Raiders at (6-5) Dallas Cowboys (-9.5)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Dallas Cowboys 24 at New York Football Giants 21  /  Tennessee Titans 23 at Oakland Raiders 19

Dallas is favored, but we feel Romo slipped the noose last week by not doing something stupid against the Giants and getting the win. This means he’s overdue for a major choke out against a mediocre team like Oakland.

We also really like Raiders’ QB Matt McGloin, aka McLovin’

So we’re taking:

for the upset on Thanksgiving!

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

THANKSGIVING THURSDAY 8:30PM GAME

(5-6) Pittsburgh Steelers at (5-6) Baltimore Ravens (-3)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

New York Jets 3 at Baltimore Ravens 19  /  Pittsburgh Steelers 27 at Cleveland Brown 11

Big Ben and the Steelers seemed to have found their mojo, and have improve to the projected 7th seed in the AFC, and are ahead of the Ravens in the division (the Bengals lead it and the Browns are in last place).

Baltimore are favored because they are the home team, and the general consensus is that these two division rivals always split their wins (Steelers winning in Pittsburgh in week 7), but after Joe Flacco & co’s lackluster performance against the Jets last week, we are not convinced.

Even if they are the defending Super Bowl champions, we’re picking:

for the upset on Thanksgiving!

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SUNDAY ONE O’CLOCK GAMES

(3-8) Tampa Bay Buccaneers at (8-3) Carolina Panthers (-8)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24 at Detroit Lions 21   /  Carolina Panthers 20 at Miami Dolphins 16

Carolina are coming off their 8th straight win and are currently the 5th seed right behind division leader New Orleans (who they still have to play twice before the end of the season!). This can be considered another trap game, like last week against Miami, who they barely beat in the 4th quarter.

Tampa Bay seem to be surging, after starting 0-7 and have won 3 straight games. Our only reservation about taking them for the upset is that corner back Darrell Revis went out last week with a groin injury and that usually doesn’t heal 100% in 7 days.

We’ll reluctantly take:

We don’t think they’ll cover the 8 point spread, so better to take Tampa for the points.

.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(2-9) Jacksonville Jaguars at (4-7) Cleveland Browns (-6.5)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Jacksonville Jaguars 13 at Houston Texans 6  /   Pittsburgh Steelers 27 at Cleveland Brown 11

With another win last week over division rivals Texans, the Jags are no longer in last place in the league or in their division!

Browns third starting QB of the season Jason Campbell sustained a concussion in the third quarter last week and it looks like Cleveland are back to where they started in week 1 with quarterback Brandon Weeden, who took over, and will get the start against the Jags.

Because of Brandon Weeden, we pick:

Better to avoid watching this game entirely… or take Jags and the points, as we predict no touchdowns and a final score of 6-3.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(5-6) Tennessee Titans at (7-4) Indianapolis Colts (-4.5)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Tennessee Titans 23 at Oakland Raiders 19  /  Indianapolis Colts 11 at Arizona Cardinals 40

Everyone is writing off the Colts, even though they still have a 2 game lead in their division lead over the Titans. We agree that the Trent Richardson trade was a joke, and find it disconcerting that they won’t admit to their mistake and run the ball with Donald Brown (only got 2 carries last week).

It’s hard for us to pick the Titans, as QB Ryan Fitzpatrick aka “The Amish Riffle” is streaky at best, even if he was growing a beard before it was hipster cool. Still, most analysts seem to be on the Titans’ bandwagon.

We hate bands and the wagons that carry them, so we’re going with:

But if you can stay away from this game, then do.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(8-3) New England Patriots (-9) at (2-9) Houston Texans

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Denver Broncos 31 at New England Patriots 34 (in OT)  /  Jacksonville Jaguars 13 at Houston Texans 6

This game is so lackluster that CBS flexed it out of it’s 4:25pm start and moved it back to 1:00pm (in favor of the Broncos-Chiefs re-match).

New England is coming off their Sunday night overtime victory over Denver. If you didn’t watch this game, what’s wrong with you? We know the Pats were down 24-0 at the half, but this was  Belichick and Brady at home.

Granted they had turned the ball over 3 times half way through the first quarter.

Our highlight was Brady’s attempted “tackle” on Von Miller after the Ridley fumble:

But in the end it was Wes Welker who won the game, albeit for his old team:

Welker stepped up after the game and admitted it was all his fault.

Houston are terrible and now occupy the 32nd spot on most analysts’ team power rankings. Of course we’re taking:

And given how bad JJ Swatt and the Houston defence has been playing, expect New England to comfortably cover the 8 point spread. Patriots’ Back up QB Ryan Mallett could even make an appearance in the 4th quarter.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(6-5) Chicago Bears (-1) at (2-8) Minnesota Vikings

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Chicago Bears 21 at Saint Louis Rams 42  /  Minnesota Vikings 26 at Green Bay Packers 26 (TIE)

Even the oddsmakers can’t really decide who should win this game as Chicago is still starting QB Josh McCown for the injured Jay Cutler and the Vikings are starting…. does it real matter anymore? We’re told it’s Ponder, but again, does it really matter anymore.

We flipped a coin and we’re taking:

Stay away from this game…

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(5-6) Miami Dolphins at (5-6) New York Jets (-1)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

New York Jets 3 at Baltimore Ravens 19  / Carolina Panthers 20 at Miami Dolphins 16

Both teams have a losing record and are coming off losses, which is why oddsmakers again can’t decide who’s favored (anything under -3 should be considered a pick’em)

The Jets QB Geno Smith was really bad last week at Baltimore going 9/22 for 127 with 2 INTs. Perhaps he should consider switching to wide receiver. Our only highlight of this game was when Josh Cribs and Geno Smith switched positions, and Geno got a first down as a wide receiver:

As for Miami, our biggest confusion last week was when Miami coach Joe Philbin took a time out on defence with :46 left, when the Panthers had no time outs. It made no sense to us…

As the RealMrPlus pointed out, Joe Philbin looks like a clueless dad from an 80’s sitcom:

At home, in the cold, we’ll take the home team:

but we’re not confident about our pick and are tired of riding the Geno-coaster.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(7-4) Arizona Cardinals at (6-5) Philadelphia Eagles (-3)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Indianapolis Colts 11 at Arizona Cardinals 40  /  Philadelphia Eagles: bye week

Apparently we now have to take Arizona seriously as they are now the 6th seed in the NFC. Carson Palmer has now gone two games in a row without throwing a pick.

However, Philadelphia QB Nick Foles has 16 TDs and 0 INTs, albeit in 5 starts (8 games played total this season).

While the Chip Kelly offense has not revolutionize football, we think it’s enough to beat Carson Palmer who’s due for a bad game on the road:

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

FOUR O’CLOCK SUNDAY GAMES

(2-9) Atlanta Falcons at (4-7) Buffalo Bills (-3.5) — GAME IN TORONTO, CANADA

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

New Orleans Saints 17 at Atlanta Falcons 13  /  Buffalo Bills: bye week

This counts as one of Buffalo’s home games, although it will be played inside at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada. We saw the Bills beat down the Jets live at Orchard Park, New York two weeks ago, but we can’t think of a bigger snooze fest than this game.

Because the Falcons are really bad and the Bills merely mediocre we’ll take:

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(7-4) Cincinnati Bengals at (5-6) San Diego Chargers (-2)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

San Diego Chargers 41 at Kansas City Chiefs 28 / Cincinnati Bengals: bye week

The Chargers game last week against the Chief had 8 lead changes , culminating in this game winning touchdown from AJIROTUTU!!!

At -2 for San Diego is it virtually a pick ’em, but we feel that Cincy, coming off the bye will have the edge, and Phillip Rivers is always inconsistent, especially this time of year, so we’ll take:

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(5-6) Saint Louis Rams at (7-4) San Francisco 49ers (-9.5)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Chicago Bears 21 at Saint Louis Rams 42  /  San Fransisco 49ers 27 at Washington Redskins 6

This is a division game with SF coming off a short week with victory over Washington on Monday Night Football. Although the Rams had a convincing win at home last week against the Bears, we think with the return of Kapernick’s favorite target, wide receiver Michael Crabtree,  we can’t help but pick:

who, at home, should cover the spread.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

(9-2) Denver Broncos (-5) at Kansas City Chiefs (9-2)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Denver Broncos 31 at New England Patriots 34 (in OT)  / San Diego Chargers 41 at Kansas City Chiefs 28

Both teams lost last week and both teams are both 9-2, with Broncos having the lead because they beat KC two weeks ago. They play for all the marbles, as the winner will lead with the 1st seed in the AFC regardless of how everyone else plays.

Peyton seemed to struggle in the cold in the cold last week against the Patriots, and the big move was Belichick deferring to the Broncos in overtime, so that they could play offense with the wind. Basically saying we don’t think Peyton can throw into the wind, in this cold, after playing for 60 minutes.

We doubt this will be an issue against Kansas City, so we pick:

.

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

(4-7) New York Football Giants (-1.5) at (3-8) Washington Redskins

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

Dallas Cowboys 24 at New York Football Giants 21  /  San Fransisco 49ers 27 at Washington Redskins 6

Not much of an evening game, but I guess NBC couldn’t flex the Denver-KC game into prime time twice in three weeks.

We could care less about either of these team, but we’ll pick:

But we wouldn’t put any money on it.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

(9-2) New Orleans Saints at (10-1) Seattle Seahawks (-6)

LAST WEEK’S GAMES FOR BOTH TEAMS:

New Orleans Saints 17 at Atlanta Falcons 13  /  Seattle Seahawks: bye week

This is definitely the game of week. Both teams are well rested, Seattle coming off a bye, and New Orleans having played on Thursday night last week. It is also their first game together since the playoffs two years ago where the Seattle won their division with a 7-9 record, forcing the Saints at 10-6 into a road playoff game (and a loss)

We’re annoyed that the Saints didn’t cover the 9.5 point spread last week against the Falcons. TheRealMrPlus says this was predictable.  I’m going to avoid the Christmas rush and start hating him now.

Our highlight of this game was when Jimmy Graham bent the uprights with his post TD signature dunk. Wonder if he’ll get fined by the league for wrecking their shit:

Nice work Jimmy

For this reason alone we pick:

Prepare to get bent, Seattle.

He signs every player named Johnson to the Lions in Madden. The result is the the best wide receiver core in the history of the NFL with Calvin (99), Andre (97), Stevie (89), Damaris (67). Unfortunately, there are very few kickers named Johnson, so point afters and field goals are a problem:

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Washington Redskins 27 at Minnesota Vikings 34

We have been boycotting the Thursday night games for the last few weeks but decided to watch this one, if for no other reason that Uwin.com gave us a free $10 parlay bet which we placed on the Vikings.

Due to injuries, the Vikings only dressed 44 players instead of the allowed 46, and this included all 3 quarterbacks (Ponder, Cassel and Freeman).

Ponder dislocated his shoulder in the third quarter lunging for a touchdown (which was short of the goal line and overturned on review):

Fortunately, it was his non-throwing shoulder, and given they don’t play for another 10 days he may still start in week 11 when they face the Seahawks. Cassel closed the game, and given he accounts for their only other win in London against the Steelers, we’re not sure why the Vikings have gone back to Ponder.

The biggest almost blunder of the game was when the Vikings decided to call a time out with :38 seconds left in the game, with the Redskins in the red zone and with no timeouts of their own. You could see Greg Jennings freaking out at this point as he clearly doesn’t agree with the coach’s decision to stop the clock:

Even if the Vikings garner a few more wins, we won’t be surprised if Coach Leslie Frazier gets his pink slip at the end of the season. We agree with Greg Jennings that this was a bone headed move, that fortunately didn’t cost them the game.

The only other highlight of the night was NFL Network’s Steve Mariucci arriving to the game on back of Ragnar’s motorcycle:

This is also the first GIF file we have created ourselves from video and we’re pretty proud of it.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

THE ONE O’CLOCK SUNDAY GAMES

Buffalo Bills 10 at Pittsburgh Steelers 23

Even though the Bills picked off Roethlisberger on his first series, they couldn’t disappointed couldn’t pulls off the upset win, even with E.J. Manuel back as QB.

Neither QB put up great numbers and there was very little excitement in this game.

he biggest story seemed to be a rumor that Big Ben will be seeking a trade at the end of season. Roethlisberger denied the rumor after the game.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Seattle Seahawks 33 at Atlanta Falcons 10

Seahawks get it done on the road against a floundering Falcon’s.

Our only comment is to Mike Smith who needs to throw his challenge flags with flourish instead of placing in gently on the field in front of the referee.

Golden Tate’s one handed catch and touchdown at the end of the first half was definitely the play of the game.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Cincinnati Bengals 17 at Baltimore Ravens 20

This was the only over time time, caused a ridiculous Hail Mary play by Rusty Dalton play at the end of the game connects with A.J. Green off a deflection:

Despite this catch that tied the game, they failed to score in OT, despite winning the toss. Doesn’t help when you do this on 4th down:

This was a division game and dominated by bad quarterback play on both sides of the ball with Rusty Dalton and Joe Flacco being sacked 5 times each. Dalton was picked off 3 times and Flacco twice.

Terrible game.

.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Detroit Lions 21 at Chicago Bears 19

This was not the offensive shoot out we thought it would be with Smokin’ Jay Cutler returning from injury to QB for Chicago. He ended up rolling his ankle and Josh McCown came in with 2:13 left in the game and throws to Marshall with :40 left. Chicago failed on the 2 point conversion even after drawing a penalty on the first attempt and getting a do over. Nick Fairly stuffed the Forte on the run and Detroits won.

Here’s is Fairley’s high step celebration after stopping the 2 point conversion:

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Philadelphia Eagles 27 at Green Bay Packers 13

The Packers lost at home after losing starting back-up QB Seneca Wallace with a groin pull in the first half:

Enter Scott Tolzien, signed from the practice squad this week. The results were not good:

Meanwhile Philadelphia’s Nick Foles was channeling his inner Brett Favre at Lambeau field throwing into double coverage to DeSeann Jackson for the first of 3 touchdown passes in this game:

Needless to say, Green Bay is supposed to work out former back up QB Mat Flynn who was cut by Oakland and the Bills this year.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Saint Louis Rams 38 at Indianapolis Colts 8

This was definitely the WTF game of the week where Saint Louis marched into Indianapolis and blew them out.
Andrew Luck had a terrible game, fumbling the ball in the first quarter that has recovered by the Rams who ran it back for a touchdown:

and then it all went down hill from there. Trayvon Austin scored on this special teams play where there was clearly confusion on the Colts’ part as to whether he had called for the fair catch:

Andrew Luck was pick 3 times, all in the red zone and were only able to score once in the second half.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Oakland Raiders 20 at New York Giants 24

The Giants fumbled and lost the ball on the initial kick off, resulting in the Raiders scoring within 45 seconds of the start of the game with a run from Pryor. Despite this bad start the Giants manged to get the win at home and having started the season winless are now 3-6, and only 2 games out of first place in the NFC East division where Philly and Dallas share first place at 5-5.

We are contemplating taking a small wager on the Giants to win the Super Bowl, where they’re now 10-1 odds as they could still win the division and make a run…

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Jacksonville Jaguars 29 at Tennessee Titans 27

Tennessee also fumble it’s initial kickoff return, resulting in Jacksonville scoring early. Jake Locker went out and back-up Titan’s QB Ryan “The Amish Rifle” Fitzpatrick took over in the second quarter. But the Titans couldn’t get it done at home and the Jaguars get their fist win of the season and are now 1-8.

On Monday, the Titans placed Jake Locker on IR with a lizfranc injury so it looks like it’s Fitzy time in Tennessee for the rest of season.

.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

THE FOUR O’CLOCK SUNDAY GAMES

Carolina Panthers 10 at San Francisco 49ers 9

This was a defensive grind, with Carolina holding on for the biggest underdog win of the week on the road. Their defense was able to hold Kapernick and the 49ers to just 3 field goals and no touchdowns. As a result there weren’t many highlight on NFL Redzone.

Play of the game was when running back Mike Tolbert ran into and over Eric Reid:

Both teams would earn the playoff wild slots in the NFC if the season ended today, as both teams are now 6-3 records.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Houston Texans 24 at Arizona Cardinals 27

Not much to say here. The Texans failed again to get a win with QB Case Keenum and fall to 2-7 on the season. Arizona are now 5-4, and can be considered to be in the hunt for a wild card spot in the playoffs.

The Texans released safety Ed Reed on Tuesday and placed him on waivers… this means he getting $6 million for playing 7 games. Not to shabby…

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Denver Broncos 28 at San Diego Chargers 20

Denver got it down, coming off a bye with coach John Fox, who is recovery from heart surgery.

Payton Manning had an average day throwing only 4 TDs for 300 yards going 25/36. Hoepfully Manning with pull himself out this slump and point some points on the board down the stretch.

Next week the Broncos host the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs in the marquee division match up of week 11.

.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Dallas Cowboys 17 at New Orleans Saints 49

What can we say: Drew Brees is awesome at 34/41,  392 yards and 4 TDs.

Tony Romo is not quite so awesome at 10/24, 128 yards and 1 TD.

.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

 MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL

Miami Dolphins 19 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers 22

Bucs got their first win of the season going up 12 points (1 TD, 1 FG and 1 safety) before Miami woke up at the end of the first half and started stopping them and putting points on the board.

Our favourite highlight of this game was when 6’6″/340Lbs eligible tackle Donald Penn score the first touchdown of the night and makes the dunk:

Save that ball, big guy!

.

.

Here’s the Chief schedule with the scores of the games so far. As you can see, none of these teams even as of the end of week 9 is better than .500 (with the exception of Dallas at .566 or 5-4). However in their remaining 7 games after the bye week, they still have to face division rivals Broncos and Chargers twice, and the Colts in week 16.

CORRECTION:

E Dogg Ditty mentioned in the podcast that T.J. Yates was QBing for Chicago on Monday night. T.J. Yates was the former back-up QB for the Houston Texans last season. Chicago’s back-up quarter back is in fact Josh McCown, who lead the Bears convincingly to victory over the Green Bay Packers 27-20.

San Francisco 48ers 42 at Jacksonville Jaguars 10  in London, UK

At this point the question becomes will Jacksonville go 0-16

As The RealMrPlus points out, it’s not the best example of the NFL when you’re sending losing teams across the pond to represent the shield. Pittsburgh and Minnesota were hardly great examples of NFL play either when they played at Wembley in week 4.

In 2014 there will be 3 games played in London: Cowboys verses Jacksonville, Atlanta verses Detroit, and Oakland verses Miami

And they do indeed sing “God Save The Queen” before the game (or at least they did in week 4):

E. Dogg Ditty mentioned Ross Tucker in regards to the timing of NFL players getting their wives or girlfriends pregnant.

Ross Tucker also has an excellent podcast: The Ross Tucker Football Podcast with sportsmedia.com and available for free on iTunes  http://sportsusamedia.com/ross-tucker/

He podcasts 5 days a week and is a former journeyman NFL Offensive lineman. Highly recommended listening for all your NFL news, analysis and picks:

Adam Vinatieri is indeed the oldest player in the NFL at age 40. He entered the league in 1996 as an undrafted free agent. We believe he is also the only active NFL player with 4 super bowl rings (3 with the Patriots and 1 with the Colts)

He also likes Snickers:

“Split the uprights with Adam Nougatieri”
