The Ravens were one of 13 NCAA women’s programs in the nation to receive no yellow or red cards all season. The Team Ethics Award recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the Laws of the Game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards.

“It is a great honor and a reflection to the way our team lives out the ideals of sportsmanship, playing with character and respect for the opponent,” said AU coach Jennifer Myhre. “We talk about playing hard, giving our all and controlling what we can control – our attitude, our response and effort. This award is a testament to the team’s commitment to respect the game.”

The Ravens have also won the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 11th time in the 2011 season. To qualify for the award, the team must have a cumulative GPA over a 3.0.

“As a team we love the game, but know there is more to the soccer experience,” said Myhre. “Our team exemplifies what it means to be a student-athlete, where they are committed to excel in the classroom and on the field.”

The junior played in all 17 games this season, leading the Ravens with seven goals, 14 points and 60 shots this season.

Katie Rocholl and Wynne O’Neal were named to the 2nd Team and Emileigh Conwell was selected for the All-Sportsmanship Team.

Rocholl had one goal on eight shots and O’Neal had an assist this season for the Ravens.

AU finished the season 3-14 overall and 0-9 in the HCAC.

Transylvania outshot AU 34-4 in the game and had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.

Jennifer Matters and Sarah Guffy each had two shots to lead the Ravens in the game and Emileigh Conwell had 15 saves in goal.

After a scoreless first half, the Spartans scored three goals in the first five minutes of the second half to take control of the game.

Emileigh Conwell had three saves in goal for the Ravens, who were outshot 11-0 in the contest.

AU (3-13, 0-8 HCAC) finishes the season against Transylvania on Saturday for Senior Day at 3 p.m.

Emileigh Conwell had nine saves in goal and Wynne O’Neal had one shot to lead the Ravens.

AU (3-12, 0-7 HCAC) travels to Manchester on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

After a Rose-Hulman goal, Sarah Guffy scored the Ravens’ goal in the 39th minute to tie the game. Wynne O’Neal got the assist on the goal. Guffy led the Ravens with four shots in the game.

The Engineers put the game away with three goals in a seven-minute span of the second half.

Rose-Hulman outshot AU 26-6 in the game and also had a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks. Emileigh Conwell had 11 saves in goal for the Ravens.

AU (3-11, 0-6 HCAC) travels to Hanover on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Sarah Guffy scored the Ravens goal in the game in the 23rd minute. Wynne O’Neal led the Ravens with three shots and Guffy added two shots in the game.

Mt. St. Joseph outshot AU 34-7 in the game and had a 9-3 edge in corner kicks. Shantol McMahon had eight saves in goal for the Ravens.

AU (3-10, 0-5 HCAC) hosts Rose-Hulman on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Sarah Guffy scored the game-winning goal with 1:25 left in the first overtime on a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box. Guffy also scored the tying goal in the 77th minute. Guffy led the team with 16 shots, including 10 on goal in the contest.

AU outshot Ohio Christian 31-11 in the game and had an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks. Shantol McMahon had three saves in goal for the Ravens.

Tiffany Vega had six shots for the Ravens while Jennifer Matters added four shots and Wynne O’Neal chipped in with three shots.

AU (3-9) travels to Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Bluffton outshot AU 21-10 in the game and also had a  4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

AU (2-9, 0-4 HCAC) travels to Ohio Christian on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Franklin outshot AU 27-6 and also had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Shantol McMahon had two saves and Emileigh Conwell had eight saves in goal for the Ravens.

AU (2-8, 0-3 HCAC) travels to Bluffon on Saturday at noon.

Earlham outshot AU 24-4 in the game and also had a 4-0 edge in corner kicks.

Sarah Guffy led the Ravens with two shots and Hillary Guion had 11 saves in goal.

AU (2-7, 0-2) travels to Franklin on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Hillary Guion had 12 saves in goal for the Ravens and Sarah Guffy led the team with three shots in the contest.

Defiance outshot AU 28-5 in the game and had a 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.

AU (2-6, 0-1 HCAC) hosts Oakland City on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The game-winning goal came in the 96th minute and was an “own goal” by the Pomeroy’s. Jennifer Matters scored the first two AU goals in the 67th and 77th minutes, respectively.

Sarah Michaels had an assist on the first goal and Hillary Guion had nine saves for the Ravens in net. Matters led AU with four shots and Tiffany Vega, Kat Mena and Andrea Whitacre each added three shots.

St. Mary’s outshot AU 20-19 in the game, but the Ravens had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

AU (2-5) hosts Defiance on Saturday at 3 p.m. The game will be carried live on video and Stretch Internet.

Katie Rocholl scored the first goal of the game in the fourth minute on a free kick. Illinois tied the game in the 74th minute and got the game-winner in the 88th minute.

Illinois outshot AU 21-7 in the game and had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Hillary Guion had 12 saves in goal for the Ravens.

AU (1-5) travels to St. Mary’s of the Woods on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The victory was the first career win for first-year coach Jennifer Myhre.

Sarah Guffy scored a pair of goals for the Ravens, including the game winner in just the second minute of the game with Jennifer Matters getting the assist. The other goal was an “own goal” by the Golden Eagles.

AU outshot Spalding 15-8 in the game and had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. Hillary Guion earned the shutout in goal, making five saves in the contest.

Matters and Guffy led the Ravens with five shots each.

AU (1-4) hosts Illinois College on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Wynne O’Neal led the Ravens with two shots and Sarah Guffy added one shot on goal.

Shantol McMahon had 14 saves in goal for the Ravens.

AU (0-4) hosts Spalding on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

Oberlin scored on a pair of long goals in the 32nd and 55th minutes to account for the only goals of the game.

The Yeomen outshot the Ravens 21-16 and had a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Sarah Guffy led AU with 11 shots and Jennifer Matters added four shots. Shantol McMahon had four saves in goal for the Ravens.

AU (0-3) hosts Cincinnati Christian on Saturday at 11 a.m. The game will be carried live on Stretch Internet.

Kelsey Rusterholz scored the first AU goal of the game in the 29th minute to cut the Trine lead to 2-1. Sarah Guffy scored the second goal in the 86th minute.

Guffy led the Ravens with three shots and Emileigh Conwell had five saves in goal. Trine outshot AU 23-4 in the game and had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

AU (0-2) hosts Oberlin on Friday at 5 p.m.

Shantol McMahon had nine saves in goal and Emileigh Conwell added two saves for the Ravens.

Thomas More outshot AU 28-0 and had a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks.

AU (0-1) travels to Trine on Monday at 5 p.m.

Transylvania was selected to finish first with 98 points and eight first-place votes. They were followed by Hanover (87), Earlham (80), Mt. St. Joseph (70), Rose-Hulman (59), Bluffton (47), Manchester (40), Defiance (33), Franklin (19) and Anderson (17).

AU opens the 2011 season at Thomas More on Sept. 3 at 1 p.m.

“I’m excited that Jennifer Myhre is our new head women’s soccer coach and I’m confident that under coach Myhre’s leadership the women’s soccer program will attain new levels of competitiveness and success,” said AU Athletic Director Marcie Taylor. “She is committed to having a positive impact on our players lives academically, athletically and spiritually.”

Myhre replaces Scott Fridley, who will remain as the men’s soccer coach for the Ravens. Fridley guided the women’s team from 2001-10 and was preceded by Art Leak (1993-2000).

“We look forward to welcoming Jennifer Myhre to our coaching staff and are very excited for what she will bring to the women of the Soccer program,” said AU President Dr. James Edwards. “Her faith perspective and winning experience along with enthusiasm she brings to the Raven program will be a welcome element in our desire to educate students for a life of faith and service.”

Myhre has been the assistant women’s soccer coach at Carnegie Mellon University for the last two years. She also has assistant coaching experience at Luther College (2008) and Northern York High School (2008).

“It’s an honor, joy and privilege to join Anderson University and I am very appreciative for the opportunity to lead the women’s soccer program,” said Myhre. “I am excited to use soccer as a means to influence student-athletes’ lives, where we seek excellence in all our endeavors and challenge each other to grow in our intellect, character and Christian faith.”

She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Messiah College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in sports & exercise science, concentrating in sport management. Myhre also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Messiah and completed her master’s degree in education from the University of Washington in 2009.

During her four years playing at Messiah, the Falcons captured the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2005, were semifinalists in 2004 and 2006 and tournament finalists in 2007.

“Coach Myhre’s highly competitive collegiate playing experience, her coaching experience and her professional development activities make her a great addition to both the Department of Athletice and the greater Anderson University campus community,” said Taylor.

Myhre was elected president of the Messiah Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) as well as the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation.  She also served as president for Pi Phi Epsilon Health and Human Performance Club during her collegiate career.

Besides coaching at Luther, Myhre coached at Northern York High School in Dillsburg, Pa., and worked at Messiah women’s soccer camps, Athletes in Action soccer camps and Soccer Academy Inc., soccer camps in Manassas, Virginia.

Myhre holds her NSCAA National Diploma, as well as a USSF “C” coaching license.

“It is truly exciting to add Jennifer Myhre to the team of excellent coaches already assembled in our Athletic Department,” said Vice President Brent Baker. “Myhre brings a competitiveness and commitment to the development of athletics on and off the field that will impact our women’s soccer program and athletic program in very positive ways.”

Anderson University is a private Christian university of 2,600 undergraduate and graduate students in central Indiana. Anderson continues to be recognized as a top Christian college: in 2010, U.S. News and World Report ranked Anderson University among the best colleges and universities in the Midwest for the seventh consecutive year. Established in 1917 by the Church of God, Anderson University offers more than 65 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in business, education, music, nursing, and theology.

Guffy led the Ravens this season with eight goals, 17 points and 73 shots and Rocholl was first on the team in assists with three and third in scoring with five points and shots with 30.

AU finished the season 4-14-1 overall and 1-7-1 in the HCAC.

AU (4-13-1, 1-6-1 HCAC) travels to Transylvania on Saturday for the season finale at 3:30 p.m.

“We played hard, just came up short against a great team,” said AU coach Scott Fridley. “Hanover is deep and very talented and I thought our girls did well defensively, but we just couldn’t generate enough offense.”
