Members of the media are invited to attend the inauguration announcements at the museum’s new Learning Centre, located in building 94. Building 94, which originally housed a machine calibration workshop, has been retrofitted to become the new Learning Centre while maintaining its heritage building status, at a cost of $ 4.6 million.

From the more ancient forms of agricultural energy generation, such as wind power, to new crops such as miscanthus and switch grass who show great potential as sources of renewable fuels, come discover the energy emanating from the Canada Agriculture Museum (CAgM)...

In addition to Canadian horses, the Museum will offer activities such as muffin and ice cream making, milking demonstrations, and craft-making. Admission is free on Sunday, July 1st to mark Canada Day.

At the event that took place on the evening of Saturday, April 21, the Museum was awarded the Prix Coup de cœur de bâtisseur communautaire, in recognition of its community involvement.

The Canada Agriculture Museum presents its annual Barnyard Halloween Party from October 29th to 30th. The whole family can enjoy a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt through the barns, fun games, and a costume parade around the Museum grounds. Make caramel apples and a sweet pumpkin treats. For an additional dollar, decorate your own pumpkin to take home with you this Halloween. This weekend, enjoy a perfect family outing at the Canada Agriculture Museum.

Energy Park: Nature at Work explores energy use on Canadian farms, and takes a look at how the technology for harvesting energy from renewable sources is changing both the consumption and production of energy on the farm.

Do you like ice cream? Visit the Canada Agriculture Museum on Sunday, August 7, and learn about the journey from cow to cone. Practice your milking technique on the Museum’s wooden cow and get the scoop on how dairying technology now includes milking machines, and even robotic milkers.

Try your hand at an old-fashioned manual ice cream maker, and taste your own yummy creation. Local beekeepers will be at the Museum to explain the buzz about honeybees and the essential role that pollinators play in ice cream production. To add to the festivities, join in on family yoga or speak with members of the Ottawa Fire Services who will be showcasing their community programming.

On Sunday, July 3rd at 11:30 a.m., the Museum is hosting a retirement party for King, the 15-year old Clydesdale who has been a perennial favourite with visitors of all ages, complete with a horse-sized card, and a custom cake made of oats, apples, carrots, and molasses.

Ottawa – A crowd of 175 guests gathered at the Canada Agriculture Museum Wednesday evening to raise funds in support of programs for youth at the Museum.

Baskets with Panache! raised $51,340 dollars to provide underprivileged children with an unforgettable hands-on farm experience through the Museum’s educational programs and summer day camps.

The Canada Agriculture Museum Foundation will host its fifth annual Baskets with Panache! fundraising event on Wednesday, June 15 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. In its first four years the event has raised $125,000. Those donations translate to 10,000 children with financial or physical challenges being able to participate in exciting educational experiences. Taking place in a heritage barn at the Canada Agriculture Museum, the Baskets with Panache! event features the lively setting of a traditional country fair with some unique twists.

Spring is in the air at the Canada Agriculture Museum this Easter weekend! After a long winter, the barns have come alive with the arrival of newborn animals. Welcome the soft lambs, meet a rabbit, and watch the newly hatched chicks from up close. In the demonstration kitchen, help Museum staff to make a variety of Easter breads and even taste a sample. Don’t miss the annual egg hunt, and the “signs of spring” trivia found in the barns. The Museum is located at the Central Experimental Farm, Prince of Wales Drive, between the traffic circle and Baseline Road.

The Canada Agriculture Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum and the Canada Science and Technology Museum are inviting everyone to celebrate their March Break time off with great hands-on experiences that all ages will enjoy! The Museums are great venues for all weather predictions and offer free parking.

After being closed for three years for restructuring, the small animal barn at the Canada Agriculture Museum is reopening to the public on Saturday February 26. This barn is a Recognized Federal Heritage Building because of its historical associations, and its architectural and environmental value. Home to the Agriculture Museum’s pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits, it will be reopen just in time for the Museum’s Barnyard Break, special programming for the month of March.

The exhibition Taking Care of Beesness demonstrates the important role that bees play in pollination and informs visitors as to how beekeeping is essential to the production of numerous Canadian crops, as well as to the production of honey and many other by-products.
