The Bangkok Business Challenge, Thailand’s premier business plan competition conducted in English, was created in 2002 to encourage post-graduate students in business administration programs across Thailand and Asia to become more entrepreneurial. Teams from business administration programs will not only be competing for the most prestigious prize of all, Thailand’s H.M. The King’s Award, but will also have a chance to acquire over $20,000 in prize money. The judging committee, including leading entrepreneurs, professionals and venture capitalists, will be looking for the most attractive new venture based on the written business plans, live presentations and venture exhibits.

After holding four annual events since 2002, the Bangkok Business Challenge® has been renamed “The mai Bangkok Business Challenge® @ Sasin”. Starting in 2007, it was co-hosted by the Market for Alternative Investment (mai), Thailand’s stock exchange for medium-sized public companies, and Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University setting a new precedent in the standard of regional business plan competitions. The Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC) is seeking promising social entrepreneurs to enter our 2009 Competition. If you are an entrepreneur (or budding entrepreneur!) with a financially sustainable venture that addresses a social or environmental problem, GSVC encourages you to apply. Winning plans in the past have ranged from global health to microfinance, from cleantech to education, from fair trade to community development, from business concepts to operating companies, and have included for-profit and non-profit models.

The ET Citi Grand Masters Championship is a national competition for management students across India, conceptualized and co-created by Economic Times and Citi. It brings together the future thought leaders of India, and evaluates their analytical, contextual, strategic and problem solving skills, that are crucial for surviving the rapidly changing world of business.

The ET Citi Grand Masters program has been initiated by two of India’s top power brands, Economic Times, a financial paper that provides analysis on industry and the economy and Citi, India’s pre-eminent financial services company. Participation is open to students of Management Institutes across India.

Championship Flow

The ET Citi Grand Masters has been designed to challenge a student’s mental faculties through a series of Business games, simulations & quiz spread over 3 action packed rounds.

2nd round: The short listed 15 business plan would be allocated to selected mentors of IFIM’s Centre for entrepreneurship (CFE). They would be a panel of entrepreneurs, VCs and academia experts. One mentor would be allotted to each short listed plan and help in developing the b-plan.

3rd round: December 15th and 16th, the mentored business plans using PPT’s would be presented to a mentor panel at the IFIM Business’s School’s campus.

Entrepreneurship Summit, a two-day event organised by Entrepreneurship Cell IIT Kharagpur, is one of the biggest platforms in India for academicians, new-age entrepreneurs, eminent business personalities, venture capitalists, and students alike, to gather and share their entrepreneurial endeavours and experiences, and to pledge to take Entrepreneurship in India to greater scales.

Entrepreneurship Summit ’09, the third edition of the Summit, is scheduled for 10th and 11th January, 2009. Kshitij ’08 was a huge success with about 3,500 outstation students coming in from different corners of the country. The creme de la creme were enthralled by thought-provoking speeches by Co- Founder of Wikipedia Mr. Jimmy Donal Wales, The father of Nano-Technology Mr. Eric Drexler , A world famous theoretical physicist and author of the bestseller ‘Physics of Star-trek’ ,Prof. Lawrence M. Krauss. There was also a video conference by Nobel Laureate in Chemistry for genetic information transfer from DNA to RNA, Prof. Roger D Kornberg. The participants were captivated by interactive guest lecture from Mr. Dilip Chhabria, the famous car designer. Inspiring and informative workshops were conducted on Rocketry, Microfinance, cryptology, kite modeling and carbon trading.

The rapid foray into technological advancements has done little to settle the ongoing debate over the effectiveness of synergy between academia and industry. In its effort to wash away the boundary separating the two, i2I has evolved from a traditional Business Plan contest to a start ups factory. Four out of the nine finalist teams from the 2008 challenge saw their dreams become reality. In an emerging economy like India, opportunities and motivation are abound for wanna-be entrepreneurs and i2I helps realize those dreams by providing exposure to collective wisdom of a large pool of mentors, venture capitalists and successful entrepreneurs. i2I facilitates interaction among finalists (and short listed teams as well) and its investment partners to allow serious and dedicated teams to catapult themselves towards financial support.
