2008-2009 Student Travel Writing Contest

Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students, students who have graduated within the past year, and students currently on leave from school are eligible.

The title “Transitions” is meant to suggest the changes in perception and understanding, as well as in place, that result from cultural immersion travel. Transitions Abroad has long featured regular Student to Student Advice, Student Participant Reports, Internships Abroad and Student Volunteer Service Learning articles, where students share information and experience with other students contemplating educational travel abroad, whether formal study abroad, internships, volunteering, or short-term work abroad.

The participants are required to write about what you were looking for when you wish you were planning to travel abroad as a student. More guidelines can be found here.

The contest is open to any writer in English producing an original short piece of fiction, creative non-fiction, poetic prose, or poetry on a theme of nature, deep ecology, spiritual ecology, or any work that has some element of nature woven into it.

Submissions can be published or unpublished material, length to range between 500 and 2500 words per entry. One title per entry, one can enter as many times as they like, new entry fee to accompany each entry. Winners will retain all rights, and will be invited to post their entries on the Earth Vision website.
