Kshitij is the annual techno-management fest of IIT Kharagpur. The fest aims to put students of all Engineering and Management Institutes under the common flag of free participation and free knowledge. During the fest, students get the break to intermingle and collaborate to conceive and execute ideas, plans and presentations. They are presented with an opportunity to use their skills and expertise in the fields of science, technology and management. Students share knowledge and information and also get a good amount of exposure to today’s fast moving and competitive world.

Kshitij ’08 was a huge success with about 3,500 outstation students coming in from different corners of the country. The creme de la creme were enthralled by thought-provoking speeches by Co- Founder of Wikipedia Mr. Jimmy Donal Wales, The father of Nano-Technology Mr. Eric Drexler , A world famous theoretical physicist and author of the bestseller ‘Physics of Star-trek’ ,Prof. Lawrence M. Krauss. There was also a video conference by Nobel Laureate in Chemistry for genetic information transfer from DNA to RNA, Prof. Roger D Kornberg. The participants were captivated by interactive guest lecture from Mr. Dilip Chhabria, the famous car designer. Inspiring and informative workshops were conducted on Rocketry, Microfinance, cryptology, kite modeling and carbon trading.

Techkriti is annual Science and Technology festival of IIT,Kanpur. Techkriti’09 aspires to get the most talented minds from across the length and breadth of the country and let them free on a battlefield littered with contests designed to test the best of them. The central idea of Techkriti’09 is to come up with ideas that change the course of human history – “transforming thoughts” are indeed the holy grail of innovations. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with Anantam – the Mathematics Forum of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and ASCII – the student chapter of Computer Science Dept is organising Sankhya ’08, a National Level Inter-College technical festival

The festival will witness a confluence of creative minds from far and wide. Apart from focussing on next generation technology the events are also designed to emphasize prevalent issues and technological trends. With the 3G spectrum set to be auctioned in India, which is well known for an astronomical customer base, the time is ripe to celebrate the advent of this quantum leap. Guest lectures by eminent personalities will augment our efforts in this direction.

‘Blueprint’ will draw suggestions to tackle the biggest technological menace of all times – piracy and similar issues. ‘Masquerade’ is a team event that will encourage ideas bearing connections with coding techniques and deception. Participants will be masking the objective of the code without compromising on its efficiency. ‘mathLAB will be a rigorous brain twister where computers would be optimised to tackle on-the-spot challenges. For the imaginative, ‘Electronic Arts’ will give them an opportunity to unleash their potential using software, imagery and relevant aid. Apart from the aforementioned, there will be several other exciting events.
