Meet Grady

Meet the newest addition to our family, Grady! He’s the most precious “silver” labrador EEEEEEEVER!!! Santa was kind enough to bring him on Christmas morning, but there we’re elves BUSY on Christmas Eve getting ready for his big arrival to our house…whew! I had never seen or heard of such a color lab until Pinterest (my complete time sucking website). When I saw one, I just knew I had to have one my sons would want one for Christmas!!!

So, I even though I might not post on my blog often, I wanted to take a moment to share our Grady… stay tuned, he’s at “puppy training” now and the fun is about to begin!

Yes, it’s true… I have a sickness! I like get my hair cut & colored, jump in my car (if I can wait that long) and take a picture of ME!!! And you want to know the sad thing? I have TONS more where these came from!!! I know, it’s short and how much can a girl really do with short hair? But for me, it’s a NEW me each and every-time I step out of the salon!!! Want to get a fresh NEW doo, yourself? Stop in Bliss & Co in High Point or Greensboro… tell them Trish sent ya!!!

YUUMY!!!

Monkey Bread…
2 reg size cans of Grands biscuits. Put about 3/4 cup of sugar and 2T of cinnamon in a ziploc. Cut the biscuits apart into quarter pieces each. Put them in the cinnamon sugar and shake. Repeat until you’ve done all biscuits. Toss them in a greased bundt cake pan. On the stove, put 3/4 cup of brown sugar and a stick of butter and melt (med heat) – stir constantly! Keep going til it looks like caramel DON’T burn it (have no clue on candy temp)! When it’s melted, pour it over the biscuits in the bundt pan and then cook it for 40 minutes on 350. (only slightly adapted from Shelli Craig)

After weeks of being in/out of doc appt with both my boys, a little get-a-way to the hires of the NC beaches is just what the doctor ordered.

Sparkle Plenty!!!

I was in London a few weeks ago, walking through the most fabulous department store (aside from Nordstrom) known as Harrod’s. I was rushing through to get to the next section of “must see”, when these little buties caught my eye! They were like diamonds glistening in the sun under those larger than life incandescents! I ever so lovingly picked them up, turned them over to see this magnificent red sole and PRICE TAG… $2348 ponds!!! That’s a whopping $3500 for these little jewels…literally!!!
It wasn’t until I got home and my mom was able to tell me exactly what it was I was holding…Ahhhhhhhh!!! Can you imagine? I didn’t even know what I was looking at and taking my picture with!!! AS it turns out, I guess I’m just naturally attuned to the finer things in life…Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! I guess the joke was on me

Paint by Annie Sloan, Mix by Trish, Loved by ALL!

So unless you live life without a computer, AWAY from the blogosphere or NOT currently in England, you have heard of the ever so famous Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! I was in love from the moment I saw this yummy looking tinted covering of candies paint. At first I must admit, I was a bit dissapointed that she didn’t a shade of vibrant lime or apple green… so what’s a girl to do? Mix her own and paint her great-grandmother’s buffet table from the early 1920’s!!!

I’m not going to give a step-by-step “how to” (unless I am bombarded with with tons of comment love & I can’t resist the fame), but I did want to show a “Before & After” so when I roll up to Annie’s shop in Oxford this week, I can say…”LOOK WHAT I DID!!!” Seriously folks, I am addicted to this chalky madness, I am headed to England for vaca, & I would be starstruck if I was able to make it her quaint little shop (even though, I’m sure Ms. Sloan is BUSY jet-setting and demonstrating her greatness)!!!

Great Grandma's Buffet Table since the 1920's

This is the obviously the “before” picture of my Great Grandmother’s large buffet table that she purchased in North Carolina back in the early 1920’s!!! I was happy and surprised when everyone agreed it was the right thing to do (I had been contemplating for years). After reading about the Annie Sloan paints, I knew it was the right thing for the job… NO SANDING, NO PRIMING and NO HERTACHE!!! WHat more could you ask for in a paint?!?!?

I did have to get out my mad science and become the mix master! I mixed 2 cups Antibes Green,  1 cup Arles,  1/2 cup Chateau Grey.

sugar junkie coupons

I know, I know… they are trying to save us money, they are trying to sell for their advertisers, but they are also making me FAT!!! As you may recall, I am weak to my sugar addiction from my first Sugar Junkie post and this morning’s paper didn’t help!!! I started eating the high protein, low carb, less total sugar and a bit of Weight Watchers journaling on the side, diet last Monday. If I must say so…SO FAR SO GOOD!!! I’m not having my tyipcal cravings and sugar binges (pat on the back for me!). But when I read through the Sunday ads and coupons this early Sunday morning… I started seeing my diet through the coupons and the craving monsters are showing their nasty little selves!!!

It’s really that simple, Buy One-Get One, ALL NEW, less sugar, save $1.00! (not to mention $3.00 on triple coupon days), discover a new you, 60% less fat, 1 a day, exclusive, Buy this-Get that FREE, limited time ONLY, see the fit side of you, loose 40 lbs. buy doing this…Where does the marketing stop? Did I mention, I have SUCKER written on my forehead? It’s sad, but TRUE.

But if I must say, my favorite add this morning was this… “Magnum…for Pleasure Seekers”!!! Might as well say, “Magnum… for the Glutton for Punishment Seekers”!!! DO I see sex innuendoes with chocolate ice cream bars? No your NOT dreaming folks, this is REAL… this is my dreams in a coupon…Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
