“Marcie Taylor brings devotion to athletes, coaches and programs, and to the wider mission of Anderson University,” said Dr. James L. Edwards, president of Anderson University. “Over these years as a teacher and coach, she has equipped herself to take on this assignment and to move our intercollegiate athletic programs to greater successes. We are delighted to have her leadership in this major institutional role.”

I look forward to continuing to work with my coaching colleagues and the administration to promote the athletic program and to enhance its overall value to the institution.”

In addition to her role as associate athletic director, Taylor has served as head women’s basketball coach since 1990 and head women’s golf coach since 1995. She has taught in the Kinesiology Department at Anderson University—namely Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, and Team Sports and Instructional Strategies for Middle School Health and Physical Education.

Under her guidance, the AU women’s basketball posted a winning record in five of the last eight years, including a 21-7 record in 2002, when they won the HCAC title and advanced to the NCAA Div. III national tournament. The women’s golf team, led by Taylor, posted a second place finish in the HCAC tournament in their first season as a varsity sport in 1998.

Taylor came to AU in 1980 from Bowdon, N.D. where she attended the Bowdon Church of God. She graduated from Anderson University in 1984 with a bachelor of arts in Secondary Education/Physical Education and a minor in Biology. During her student days at AU, Taylor was a guard for the Ravens.

She earned a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from Ball State University in 1988. Before returning to Anderson in a staff role, Taylor was the head basketball coach at Bismark Junior High School for two years. She also spent one year as an assistant coach at AU before taking over the program.

Taylor is a member of several national organizations including the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators, Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, Indiana Basketball Coaches Association, National Golf Coaches Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Anderson University is a private Christian university of 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students in central Indiana. Anderson continues to be recognized as a top Christian college: in 2008, U.S. News and World Report ranked Anderson University among the best colleges and universities in the Midwest for the fourth consecutive year. Established in 1917 by the Church of God, Anderson University offers more than 65 undergraduate majors and graduate programs in business, education, music, nursing and theology.

Transylvania led the field with a total of 297-293-316-310 1216, followed by Franklin (311-317-322-327 1277), Anderson (312-305-332-334 1283), Manchester (325-322-341-344 1332), Rose-Hulman (329-325-334-347 1335), Hanover (331-327-326-355 1339), Defiance (329-332-346-348 1355) and Mt. St. Joseph (352-328-342-354 1376).

The first two rounds were at Shadowood Golf Course last Saturday and Sunday. The final two rounds were at at Chestnut Hills.

Scott Schomburg shot rounds of 78-77 155 to lead the Ravens and finish third individually. Lance Ramsey shot a pair of 78s to finish with fifth with a total of 156.

Other AU finishers were Justin Lane (81-78 159), Tyler Daniels (80-81 161) and Nathan Criswell (79-83 162).

The Ravens won the invitational with a two-day total of 629, including 314 on Sunday. There were followed by DePauw (633), Rose-Hulman (634), Franklin (643), Mt. St. Joseph (644), Fontbonne (657) and Hanover (664).

AU travels to Hanover on Apr. 25-26 for the first two rounds of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament at Shadowood Golf Course in Seymour.

Tyler Daniels shot a 40-41 81 to lead the Ravens and was fifth overall as an individual. Nathan Criswell was also in the top 10 with a 42-40 82.

Other AU finishers were Justin Lane (42-42 84), Lance Ramsey (45-41 86) and Scott Schomburg (42-44 86).

Hope won the event with a total of 319 shots. Transylvania was second (323) followed by Franklin (330) and Anderson (333).

AU travels to the Rose-Hulman Invitational on Saturday and Sunday in Terre Haute.

Franklin defeated Anderson for the third straight tournament by a total of 654-670.
Scott Schomburg shot an 81-80 161 to lead the Ravens and was third individually. Nathan Criswell was fifth overall with a 84-78 162.

Other AU finishers were Tyler Daniels (89-78 167), Lance Ramsey (93-87 180) and Matt Marsalka (102-96 198).

The Ravens travel to the Manchester Invitational on Saturday at 8:30 a.m.

Tyler Daniels led the Ravens and was the runner-up with a 34-38 72 on the 6700-yard, par-72 course. Nathan Criswell (39-38 77) and Scott Schomburg (37-40 77) both finished fifth individually.

Other AU finishers were Justin Lane (40-38 78) and Jordan Roberts (43-40 83).

AU travels to the Mt. St. Joseph Invitational at Aston Oaks Golf Course in Cincinnati, Ohio, on Saturday and Sunday at noon.

Tyler Daniels and Justin Lane each finished with a two-day total of 161 to lead the Ravens, ranking fifth individually. Daniels shot rounds of 79-82 while Lane tallied an 81-80.

Other AU golfers were Nathan Criswell (82-81 163), Lance Ramsey (83-81 164) and Scott Schomberg (87-83 170).

Franklin won the overall meet with a total of 641. Aurora was second with 646 and Anderson third at 649.

AU plays in the Mt. St. Joseph Invitational on Apr. 5-6.

The final round will be played on Sunday at the Anderson Country Club.

Nate Criswell shot an 80-72 152 to lead the Ravens and finished in the top 20 individually.

Other AU finishers were Lance Ramsey (80-75 155), Justin Lane (82-80 162), Caleb Cunningham (80-82 162) and Scott Schomburg, who shot a 74 in one round.
