Lockhart's first book, The Un-Life of William Moore, is the story of your average, everyday vampire and a college student with a wild imagination finding out what it means to be human. Maybe monsters are simply people, albeit with stranger diets and habits than you or I. The Un-Life is a story of the trials of friendship, the dangers of stereotypes, and what it means to be a monster.

Lockhart is the current president of the Hannibal Writers Guild in Hannibal, MO, the historic hometown of Mark Twain. She was elected November 2019, and served as vice president before that.

Lockhart composes emotive, contemporary poetry with fire and spirit. Her two poetry collections, In the Deluge and Up in Flames, feature concise, punchy poems where every word carries weight and no word is paltry.
