About Fellowship:
“The IUSSTF Fellow will be entitled to fellowship amount of US $ 3000 per month.”

IUSSTF Fellow will also be entitled to contingency/ preparatory allowances to cover for visa, airport transfer, medical insurance, etc. @ Rs 15000 for period upto 6 months and Rs. 20000 for period beyond 6 months. Medical insurance expenses, visa fee, airport transfer charges will be met by the fellow from out of the personal contingent grant.

IUSSTF Fellow will also be permitted to travel within USA to attend conferences or visit other institutes of interest with the approval of the advisor at the host institute.

The Fellow will be entitled to avail one of the following grants for this purpose.
i) $ 75 per day for visits upto 8 days
ii) Grant of $ 600 for fellowship period upto 6 months
iii) Grant of $ 1200 for fellowship period beyond 6 months

Air-tickets for all the selected IUSSTF Fellow would be provided directly by the IUSSTF travel desk by economy class and shortest route from their place of work in India to the place of the American host institute and back. As a rule, reimbursements will not be provided for air tickets purchased directly.

Rules governing payment of salary, leave, medical, gratuity, GPF and pension etc. of the organization/ institution/ university to which the fellow belongs would continue to be applicable. No liability on any of these accounts will be borne by IUSSTF.

The candidate selected for the award of the Indo-US fellowship should commence their research with six month period from the date of award announcement. Failure to do so would render the fellow forfeit the award.

The main objective of this Scholarship program is to provide a platform where in the students close to Hubli/Dharwad region can market based solutions to social issues with the help of others. The Fedora Scholarship program recognizes one high school senior per year for contributions to the Fedora Project and free software/content in general.

The Fedora Scholarship is intended to assist in the recipient’s college or university education. To this end, the recipient will receive $2,000 USD per year for each of the four years that he/she is in college.

Additionally, the recipient will receive funding for travel and lodging at the FUDCon nearest to his/her location each year of the scholarship, should he/she choose to attend.

About:
The Sarai programme of the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi has announced fellowships for projects related to Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) activities. The fellowships are funded by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI),  which seeks to promote Indian language computing, and network technology needs for India in the FLOSS domain. The Indian Linux Users’ Group, Delhi (ILUG-D) has also agreed to be technical partners on this year’s fellowship projects, and will be involved in the selection of proposals, and the monitoring of projects.

Areas for working on Projects:

• Localization of user interfaces into Indian languages, and the translation of documentation for FLOSS applications.
• Indian language computing, including work on fonts, rendering, locales, input methods, spell-checking, etc., as well as in advanced technologies like optical character recognition (OCR), handwriting recognition, and speech-to-text.
• Research on networking technologies relevant to the spread of the Internet in India, to the use of Indian-language domain names, and enabling a migration to IPv6.
• In the interest of sustained development, we would like to see the enhancement of, and extensions for projects funded as part of past Sarai FLOSS fellowships. In particular, we draw attention to Hindi automated speech recognition (http://sourceforge.  net/projects/hindiasr/), NewsRack (http://newsrack.in), and Hindawi (http://www.indicybers.com).
• Documentation for users of FLOSS tools, particularly in the area of Indian language computing.
• Projects involving cutting-edge technology, especially in the domains of mobile computing, embedded devices, robotics, GPS, GIS, and location-based services.

Generous scholarship and contingency grant is provided (up to the Pre-Ph.D. level) to the selected students.

The selection of students from those who are studying +1, +2, any U.G. Programme including First/Second year Engineering/Medicine are carried out by IISc (Bangalore), IIT-Bombay (Mumbai), and ICMR (New Delhi), respectively, in association with two Zonal Centres one at Kolkata (Indian Institute of Science Education Research, Kolkata) and another at Mumbai (HBCSE, TIFR). There are special groups or committees set up at IISc, IIT and ICMR which screen the applications, conduct interviews at various centres, make the final selection and attend to follow-up matters.

About the Award: The Charles Wallace Trust awards fifteen scholarships to practitioners in heritage and the arts so that they may have an edge in their respective fields. The award includes, but is not limited to practitioners in  management and curatorship of the visual arts, practice of the visual arts, management of project sites etc. Awards are generally from three months to a maximum of one academic year.
